Online Training Requirements

Please note that it is only necessary to have the requirements marked with an asterisk (*) for the first Level One Course. Thereafter, make-up products and tools will only be required in the practical make-up courses. Furthermore, it is not expected that a full make-up kit is owned before commencing a practical course. Only specific products and tools relating to the module are required for each course, enabling students to build their product collection over a period and as afforded. At the start of each course, students will be supplied with a short list of requirements for that specific course.

  • Basic Stationery*

Exam Pad, Pens, Pencils, Eraser, Coloured Art Pencils, Printer Paper and A4 Files.

  • Computer Skills*

You need to have a sufficient knowledge of computers and the internet to be able to study online – this includes downloading and uploading files and images, editing and formatting documents (MS Word and PDF documents), basic editing of photos, i.e. cropping and compressing (resizing), e.g. with Microsoft Picture Manger, as activities, feedback tasks and assignments must be submitted in a specified format.
Please ensure you have the necessary computer knowledge as the school does not take responsibility to teach such skills.

  • Electronic Equipment*

Use of a Personal Computer with sound, a Printer, a Digital Camera (minimum – 5 megapixel camera) and access to a Scanner. Please do not use a mobile phone camera unless it complies with the above digital camera specifications.
Please note that the camera and scanner are not required for the first course.

  • Computer Software*

Microsoft Office (Version 2000 to 2010), Microsoft Picture Manager (or similar program with the same features), Mozilla Firefox Internet Browser (Version 4 or above), Adobe Acrobat Reader (Version 10 or above), Adobe Flash Player (Version 10 or above) – free downloads from the Internet.

  • An Active E-mail Account and Internet Access*

Broadband Connection (or similar recommended).

  • Make-up Accessories and Disposables

Tissues, Cotton Buds, Cotton Wool, Cosmetic Sponges, Puffs, Disposable Mascara Wands, False Eyelashes and Eyelash Adhesive, Tweezers, Brush Cleaner, Surgical Spirits, Breath Mints.

  • A Collection of Make-up Products and a Professional Brush Set

(Trainees are free to choose whichever professional brand they prefer.)
A Professional Make-up Kit is never complete – products in the kit need to be replenished and it is recommended that trainees regularly add new products to include fashion colours and textures to offer a greater variety.

  • Make-up Kit Box

Trainees may invest in a professional kit box/case to transport their products and accessories, or obtain a large plastic toolbox to use instead. The large plastic toolboxes are commonly used as make-up kit boxes by professional make-up artists who are just starting out. Later when working as a professional, one box may not suffice and a second kit box/case may be required.

  • Facial Products and Towels

Cleanser, Toner, Make-up Remover, Moisturiser, Face Cloth, Hand Towel
